2011-2012 President Ken Thomas
Kent Sunrise Rotary

The Kent Sunrise Rotary club is a vibrant and active service club with many accomplishments in the Kent community. I am looking forward to my year as president and my focus for 2011-2012 is on three main areas. They are: 1) To partner with the other service clubs in the Kent area to support the Kent School District in its outreach and investment in our youth; 2) To increase our membership to allow us to give back to our community through active participation in more local projects; 3) To continue to support ongoing community and international projects which will make the world a better place.

I encourage you to browse our website and see the many activities our members have participated in over the years. You will find we accomplish a lot through our love to give back, and at the same time have fun. If you would like to become a part of our organization, please click here to send us your message. Rotary's motto for many years has been "Service Above Self", and that is what we are about. The following quote is attributed to Winston Churchill and is part of our club philosophy: "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give".

                           RI President Kalyan Banerjee's theme

2011-2012 RI President

Kalyan Banerjee

President Banerjee urges Rotarians to harness their inner resolve and strength to achieve success in Rotary.

"In order to achieve anything in this world, a person has to use all the resources he can draw on. And the only place to start is with ourselves and within ourselves," Banerjee said.

Once Rotarians find their inner strength, he continued, they can accomplish great things in their communities and around the world.

"Discover yourself, develop the strengths within you, and then unhesitatingly, unflinchingly, go forth and encircle the world, to embrace humanity," he said.
